(It's On! series): the 24 hour mobile seminar series at 4 hours per session, that engages students through college
planning and research, developing a personal essay that can be utilized in multifaceted ways and life coaching assistance
centered on supplemental activities, internships, community service projects and study abroad programs.
OnTrack -The
College Planning Process:
1. Introduction
to College Prep – Topics to be covered will center on: Why college? What are colleges looking for in their
ideal candidate? The mock college admissions process will give students an inside view on what to expect and how insiders
may make decisions of acceptance and rejection. A pre-survey will be conducted to assess student knowledge base
2. Brag Sheet Development – Students will explore: How do you sell
yourself? What marketing tools are you using to make yourself more appealing and attractive holistically?
3. College Fit – Students will be expected to find the right fit
and match environment of higher learning for you? Are you interested in a city environment? Urban? Rural? Large School, Small
School? etc. Explore what is best for you
4. Scholarships /Financial
Aid – There are a world of scholarships that are available to you. Students will learn how to position themselves
to take advantage of those opportunities. Students will also learn the critical factors that affect their financial
aid package
5. Creating Your Action Plan - What to do
and when to do it
6. Post survey – Where are you and what
have you learned? Are you feeling more equipped?
