HEALTH CAREERS SUMMER PROGRAM - Application deadline April 23rd
The Department of Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center sponsors a Summer Enrichment & Mentoring Program for Minority
students interested in working in the health fields. The Montefiore Health Opportunities Program (Monte-HOP),
formerly known as The Maternal & Child Health Summer Mentorship Program, provides 8 to 12 students, high school seniors
or college freshman/sophomores, with an opportunity to engage in activities to become familiarized with various health professions.
This is a stipend funded summer program.

NBA CRUMP LAW CAMP

The National Bar Association is seeking applicants for the Crump Law Camp which was established
for students entering the 9th through 11th grades and between the ages of 14 and 17 to introduce them
to the judicial system. The goal of the NBA camp is to encourage young people at an early age to become lawyers and
seek legal careers in the future. By 2050 more than half of the people in this country will be of color. More than
90% of the nation’s lawyers are white, as are more than 80% of the students enrolled in law school. Yet more than 30%
of the United States is comprised of people of color. The NBA is seeking applicants to attend this camp
from every ethnic group and its selection process is non-discriminatory. The first inaugural two week camp was held during the summer at
Howard University School of Law through a grant by the Ford
Motor Company Fund in 2001. Campers were and will be housed on the Howard University campus and live in a protected
camp environment. Open enrollment is available to students across the country but emphasis
will be on enabling students from low income families to attend. Tuition for the
camp will vary depending upon family income. The tuition covers transportation to and from Washington,
D.C.; housing; meals; educational materials; and expenses for field trips. The camp provides students with
an exciting academic and social agenda in the Washington, D. C. area. The competitive highlight of the camp is the Evett L. Simmons Mock Trial

to join Seedco's EarnBenefits initiative to help low-wage workers access income-enhancing benefits and work supports.
EarnBenefits is a multi-tiered approach to providing low-wage workers and their families with the resources needed to achieve
continuous employment, skill enhancement, and economic self-sufficiency.
Position Overview: The Program Assistant will
research, specify, and document eligibility rules for public and private benefits in multiple states, and develop test households/cases
to ensure that rules are being applied correctly and accurately. The specifications will be programmed into EarnBenefits Online
(EBO), a CRM style software product, developed in-house to simultaneously screen low-income individuals and families for multiple
benefits, populate application forms, and facilitate the application process. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited
to: - Research and specify public and private benefits eligibility criteria;
- Design and build test cases to verify eligibility rules;
- Maintain and update rules;
- Develop and maintain external
relationships with information sources;
- Act as liaison between software development team and program staff with focus on user interface of EBO, balancing
clarity and usability with accuracy and stability;
- Perform ‘back-end' quality control and administrative tasks in EBO.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree;
- Strong analytical/research skills;
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, Power Point, Adobe Professional. Microsoft
Access;
- Experience
with computer programming (JavaScript, HTML) or logic modeling a plus - but no programming experience is necessary;
- Knowledge of public benefits
A++;
- Experience
with software development a plus;
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task and work effectively under
pressure in both a team setting and individually;
- Should be able to work independently and focus on a sole task for long periods of time;
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
